Combat elder
loneliness.
As seen in the first video, elder loneliness is a growing problem. While some cultures honor and cherish their elders, they tend to be forgotten and left behind in the United States.
I was first awakened to this problem earlier this semester. I often feel guilty that I only talk to my grandparents a couple of times a week. However, so many people have commented that they love how often I talk to my grandparents. If they think once a week is often, how often do they call their grandparents? We need to move toward a culture that loves and respects our elderly community members- starting with your own grandparents is an easy way to combat the issue.
My first instinct when analyzing this photo was to the Huffington Post article we read on the types of selfies. Although this is technically classified as a "ussie" according to the infographic, I do believe it speaks to my own personal character. Thus, the "ussie" still says something about my "self".
In my opinion, it would be great to once day see a family or grandparent selfie recognized in the infographic.
