In this picture, a girl is sitting at a desk in a lecture hall. In front of her there's a green folder on the desk. Two other students can be seen in the background. She's wearing a long sleeve shirt that has the University of Michigan block M on it and the words "Michigan Ross". She's also wearing a white hat. Only one of her eyes are visible- the one that is wide open. Her mouth is open as well.
Ross values of positive business
WE BELIEVE THAT BUSINESS CAN ENACT POSITIVE CHANGE.
Our focus on positive business centers on:
-
Creating economic value – for customers, shareholders, and society
-
Creating a great place to work
-
Being a great neighbor in the local community, the nation, and the world
Is there anything that can get more narcissistic than a Ross-Hole selfie?
As discussed in Burke's A Rhetoric of Motives when two things are joined by a commonality they're said to have consubstantiality . Those who aren't included or who don't have that commonality are differentiated then. Business gets a bad rep which is translated onto Ross. However, it shouldn't be this way. Not all business schools have consubstantiality- they don't all hold the same mission and values. Ross has differentiated itself from others in the field by promoting positive business and action based learning. This is yet to be recognized by the the University of Michigan community at large as a part of their identity.
